Our society has begun to experience a wellness revolution as more people are discovering that health is both a physical and emotional state.  Real health is experienced when both mind body and spirit are in balance.

As people discover the importance of the holistic mind/body relationship in health, modern spas are becoming more popular.  No longer are spas the playgrounds of the idle rich or sanitarium for recovery.  In today's fast paced, competitive and highly stressed society, people are seeking alternative methods of health care to manage their levels of stress, aid in relaxation, and assist in their quest to reach optimum levels of health.  For a growing number of people around the world, spas have become a sanctuary:  a place where they can retreat from their daily pressures, relax and learn new tools to assist them in regaining control of their lives.

In 2000, Animbiigoo Zaagi'igan Anishinaabek commissioned a feasibility study of a world class destination Aboriginal cultural eco-resort spa that would be located in the First Nation's traditional territory within the Lake Nipigon Basin.  The study found that the spa portion of the concept is highly compatible with wilderness, Aboriginal culture, spirituality and connection to the land.

Our facility will utilize natural materials and environmentally friendly building practices wherever possible.  The building will blend in with the wilderness and will take advantage of a wonderful view of Lake Nipigon.  We will offer a variety of adventure activities that will suit a wide range of interest and fitness levels.  Adventure activities may include such things as hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, ice climbing and bird watching.  The activities at the facility will be delivered with an Aboriginal theme which could include such things as storytelling or interpretation and identification of plants and animals while hiking or canoeing.  The spa treatments will utilize local herbs and will include the use of Aboriginal "medicines" wherever possible.

Our vision is that the Animbiigoo Zaagi'igan Anishinaabek Eco-Resort Spa and Wellness Centre will combine the themes of eco-adventure with Aboriginal culture and deliver it to guests in one of the most beautiful, untouched and protected locales in North America.  This high quality luxury experience will draw a unique mix of consumers who are interested in a holiday that will both challenge the body and relax the mind.
